What is being active?

When we hear about being active it’s all too easy to start thinking about ‘going to the gym’, ‘running marathons’ and all that sort of stuff. But the truth is being active doesn’t have to be any of these things if you don’t want it to be.

Activity should fit around your life, not the other way around. It’s something positive that you can do to make your life better. There are so just many benefits to being active. It can give you energy, lift your mood, help you sleep better, feel less tired and stressed, and boost your confidence too.

Being active can be whatever you want it to be. It can mean going for a walk around the park, taking the stairs instead of the lift or going for a swim.  You could get off the bus one stop early, take a bike or it could be something completely different. As long as it gets your heart beating a bit faster and makes you breathe a bit harder, it counts.
